Treatments

All my treatments are non-invasive and centred around the individual’s needs. I work with you to find the best match and sometimes this might be a “fusion” of more than one therapy. I initially trained to work with people but my love of animals took me down another path. I was amazed at how receptive all animals, both large and small, are to energy techniques and have now qualified so I can work with both people and animals.

As a Reiki Master Teacher I can also offer Reiki training courses from First Degree to Master Teacher.

Below is a brief explanation of the therapies and courses I offer. If you have any questions or just want to chat things through, please give me a call or drop me an email. I look forward to hearing from you.

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is a Japanese technique which aids relaxation, reduces stress and promotes healing. Reiki is not a religion, it is “neutral”. Reiki is the Japanese word for “Universal Life Energy” which flows in and around us. When Reiki was taught by it’s founder, Mikao Usui, in Japan in the 1920’s it was as a self- healing method. During the last century Reiki has developed in the West as a form of Complementary Therapy to treat other people. Reiki is simple, natural and intuitive and brings the body into a harmonious state so that our energy is balanced. Balancing the body’s energy means that instead of just treating the symptom we treat the whole body at different levels which includes spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically.

In Reiki we channel energy through our hands to the recipient. This enhances natural balance and the body’s ability to maintain well-being and self- healing. Reiki energy can also be sent as distant healing where you set an intent and allow the energy to flow. Reiki goes where you ask it and where it is needed.
Reiki treatments can feel different for everyone as we are all individuals. For some people it gives a deep feeling of relaxation whilst others may see colours or feel warmth or coldness or tingling during a treatment. In a typical Reiki session, I will ask a few questions about you, explain what will happen in the treatment, you will lie down fully clothed on the couch to ensure your maximum relaxation, I will then position my hands either a few inches away or place my hands on you to channel the Reiki energy. Following the treatment we will talk about the session.

Animal Reiki

Is a simple non-invasive complementary therapy which helps animals balance their physical, emotional and energetic levels and helps bring them back to their natural balance.

Animals are very sensitive to energy, they live energy, they constantly work with energy reading and feeling energy interactions. You can use hands on or distant healing Reiki effectively with animals which makes it ideal for working with all kinds of animals from domestic pets to wildlife. The size of the animal is unimportant, Reiki goes to where it is needed most and can help support whatever the animal is going through.

The sort of situations when animal Reiki could be useful

  • Behavioural issues
  • Anxiety
  • Fear
  • Trigger situations
  • Grieving animals
  • Improving relationships between animals and humans
  • Horse and rider
  • Horse and spaces
  • Emotional and physical issues

In a typical treatment I would let the animal decide whether they prefer to receive Reiki hands on or at a distance and gently build trust with the animal. Animals are all individuals and sometimes a single treatment is enough to heal what they are experiencing whilst others may need a series of treatments.

People and pets with a deep bond can often mirror each other’s physical and emotional states. Animals and humans in such a close relationship share energy and energetic in-balances. In these instances joint treatments between people and pet are often beneficial.

* Please note that Reiki and animal communication and healing are not a substitute for veterinary care and treatment. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose or advise on veterinary treatments. Where the animal is ill the owner needs to seek veterinary permission before complementary therapy can take place.

Reiki Drum Technique

In this practice I use the drum as a channel for the Reiki energy. Drumming for healing and meditation is an ancient practice and the power of sound over the body and spirit is well known in tribal cultures. Scientific research shows that drumming, even for short periods, can influence brain activity creating a meditative alpha state and reducing stress.

Drumming has been linked to increased immunity, creating neural connections and the production of the body’s natural painkillers such as endorphins and opiates.

Drumming can be useful when treating stress, tension, fatigue, anxiety, hypertension, sleep and emotional disorders. Sound vibrations are known to resonate through every cell of the body and stimulate the release of negative cellular memories.
The Reiki drum technique can also be used with animals.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

Advanced Accredited  Level 3 Practitioner- EFTi

What is EFT or “tapping”?

EFT is a therapeutic technique that makes use of the body’s natural calming response. It involves tapping on acupuncture points on your hand, face, torso and head with your own fingers. Whilst holding in mind the thought, feeling, image, memory or sensation you want to gain relief from.

Many people have found this technique has helped them to relieve strong emotions such as anxiety, anger, sadness or guilt. It can be helpful both with feelings we would expect to ease in time and with long established feelings such as phobias or post traumatic stress.

Animals and EFT

Animals have emotions and a meridian system just like humans. You can either tap directly on the animal or use alternative non- touching EFT techniques. EFT has been known to help animals with issues like:

  • unknown fears
  • anxiety due to being separated or going to the vet
  • Known fears such as thunderstorms and fireworks
  • Aggression towards people and other animals
  • Depression/ overexcitement
  • Relationship problems
  • Training problems
  • Pain relief
  • Physical health issues- to be used only in addition to treatment given by a qualified vet.

Animal communication and healing

Epona Equine Reiki and Animal Healing Centre

Animals are tuned into what is around them and they “feel” what we are “putting out”. If we are nervous the animal will pick up on a tense energy or vibration. This is how a basic level of communication with an animal can be formed.

Animal Communication has been known to help animals in situations like:

  • Finding sore or uncomfortable areas within the physical body
  • Finding the cause of behavioural issues
  • Improving the relationship and understanding between animal and human
  • Checking the correct fit of tack or equipment used
  • Finding out how the animal feels about their lifestyle or environment
  • Finding illness before it physically shows.

There are different types of animal communication techniques used to discover the above:

  • Clairsentience feel what the animal feels
  • Clairvoyance see pictures and images
  • Clairaudience where your brain translates the information sent to you in a single
    word or sentence
  • Clairgustance taste what the animal is tasting
  • Clairscent smell what the animal is smelling

We are all able to communicate with animals if we just open our mind to the possibility.

Practical spirituality and wellbeing-tall

Practical spirituality and wellbeing

(Ofqual Diploma-Spiritual Companions Trust)

(Based on “Your Spiritual Health Programme” by The Spiritual Companions Trust; www.yourspiritualhealth.org)

This is not linked to any particular spiritual or religious tradition but is a person centred practical approach based around mindfulness and the compassionate witnessing of our thoughts and feelings. It is based on 3 elements:

Connection: Being connected is a normal and natural experience, we just don’t always recognise it. You may feel it walking in nature, watching a sunset, listening to music, stroking your pet, dancing or when you are with friends and family. In these moments something shifts in your mood, you feel good, it’s like an inner smile. These moments of connection send health supporting messages through your whole body. The hormones of anxiety and tension reduce and a cocktail of beneficial hormones roll through your body. Learn to “soak” in these feelings and be at ease and enjoy the moment.

Peace of Mind: Life is not easy. There are competing demands on our time and attention. Learn to step back, pause, detach, witness yourself and self- manage with care.

Care and Compassion: From childhood many people have a quiet knowing that being a good person and caring for others makes the world a better place. There is also a hidden benefit for us. When we care for others our body adapts and softens in a way that is physiologically beneficial.

Your mind, emotions, mood and physical body are closely connected. Learn how to boost your emotional wellbeing, improve your physical and mental health and connect with the good things in life.
